Cockroaches |
Are identified or recognized by their own flattened shape, the head concealed under the pronotum (headsheild) and the long hairlike antennae. The wings may be well developed reduced or absent. The females of many species have shorter wings than the males. Cockroaches are rather general feeders that contaminate food, they have an unpleasant odor, and they are often annoying. The cockroach eggs are enclosed in capsules which may be deposited immediately after they are formed or carried about by the female until they hatch. |
